Oxshott - 2nd Least Used Station in Elmbridge
Visiting Oxshott station Oxshott railway station serves the village of Oxshott in the borough of Elmbridge. It is on the New Guildford Line, with all services operated by South Western Railway. The station opened in 1885, originally under the name Oxshott and Fairmile, and is about 16 miles (26 km) from London Waterloo railway station. Some interesting facts: 🚆 Typically 2 trains per hour run to London Waterloo and 2 trains per hour to Guildford during the day. 🧱 The station once had a siding serving the local brickworks, which supplied bricks for many London buildings. The former brickworks branch explains why a nearby footbridge was built long enough to span three tracks. 🚛 In November 2010, a concrete mixer lorry crashed through the bridge just beyond the station and landed on a passing train. Remarkably, nobody was killed, although several people were injured. The accident led to recommendations on bridge safety. 📈 The station handled approximately 449,000 entries and exits in 2024/25, making it a moderately used commuter station.
