Cuba Steam in Paradise 1999 part 6
Central Noel Fernández (520) was very unusual in that it operated two of the only successful conventional tender steam locomotive converted to fireless. Central Brasil (511) used colourful, purpose built 0-4-0F fireless steam locomotives. Central Ecuador (504) used conventional 2-8-0 steam locomotives. Central Diez de Octubre (441) had a recently out-shopped orange painted Baldwin 2-8-0 together with a Minaz TGM4 Bo-Bo diesel built in Russia. Mal Tiempo (403) was one of several 30” gauge mill systems. All the NG Baldwin 2-8-0s had very low-slung burners that when working hard caused the ground to vibrate. They were sometimes felt through the feet before they were heard! As in all of Cuba, Havana had a mixed collection of road vehicles including many pre-revolution American cars. The US trade embargo had its good side even if it was only for the benefit of old car enthusiasts. Central Manuel Isla Perez (206) used an unusual H.K. Porter 0-4-4T tank locomotive Music & arrangement by Max TenRoM - Jamendo.com
