This piece is gut-wrenchingly personal for me: it tells the story almost exactly of the fading chapter of my mother's life. All the lyrics I wrote reflect true moments with her and, most of all, true feelings. I call my mom's generation, "the I'm fine" generation, so I had to include that in this lyric. She was always saying she's fine, and we all knew she wasn't. I have to be honest: even writing this was hard for me. And yes, I did cry while I was writing it. And of course, I cried while I created the storyboard for it as well. Although this is my own personal story, it's also the story of millions of other mothers and daughters who go through the tragic and difficult time when their parents fade. For those who care for an ailing parent, it's not just the work that has to be done that is all-consuming; it is also the difficulty of facing the truth that when this part is over, your mother will have passed on. And being willing to accept that is, of course, the most hurtful yet honoring time of your life, that you were there for her or that you could be there for her in one way or another.
