The UK's best beginner ultra - Race to the King 50k & 100k races in the South Downs

Totally bowled over by the inclusivity and diversity at this awesome beginner ultra, Race to the King by Threshold Events, in the South Downs, starting from West Dean Gardens annually in June. Threshold have been on a mission to increase female participation, aiming for 50:50 male:female entry which they achieved in 2024 for most races. They have also reached out to many running communities that are underrepresented in ultra running, so it was fantastic to see such a wide range of people taking part and enjoying for some what was their first ultra! Highly recommend these races. The Race to the King 50k & 100k events are very well waymarked and supported with well-stocked aid stations with a huge variety of sweet and savoury food, and the atmosphere is friendly, welcoming and giving "MORE IS IN YOU!" vibes. I hope to be back one year when I don't have bronchitis. :) Thanks also to Rudy Project for sending me the Astral sunglasses to wear at this event. Sorry I didn't actually run it due to the aforementioned bronchitis and it wasn't a very sunny day, but I will be wearing them for all my sunny ultras in 2025 so watch this space for more info on them.
