LE RADAR DU RAFALE, COMMENT ÇA MARCHE ?

The MIRAGE 2000 B (serial number 501) is a RAFALE test bench aircraft which ended its career in November 2023. Its function was to develop successive versions of the RAFALE radar. This radar built by Thales, the RBE2, was the first of its electronically scanned type in Europe. This end of service of the MIRAGE 2000B, 501 is an opportunity to look at the operating principles of electronically scanned radars with passive (PESA) or active (AESA) antennas and compare them to previous generations with mechanical scanning.
