Ski de Montagne au Mont Lyall Chic-Chocs et spot secret de PowSurf- Nos Traces Ep.5

Mount Lyall is the largest backcountry skiing area in the FQME (Quebec Federation of Mountaineering and Climbing). We head out for some off-piste skiing with Jean-François Michaud from Coop Accès Chic-Chocs. In the second part, we try powder surfing, the passion of our cameraman, straight-line guru Dylan Page. Coop Accès Chic-Chocs is responsible for developing several backcountry skiing areas in the Gaspé Peninsula and elsewhere in Quebec. They frequently recruit guides and other people who make a living from backcountry skiing in the winter. Jean-François, a guide and avalanche professional, tells us about his favorite spot: Mount Lyall, and shows us what he has developed for the enjoyment of backcountry skiers. This area is in the Chic-Choc Mountains and is one of the most popular for ski touring enthusiasts. Be aware that Mount Lyall has avalanche risks; consult the Avalanche Québec bulletin and plan your outing accordingly. Troll Face, alternative line (also called the Bélu by locals in honor of Marc-André Belhummeur) In the second part, we try Powsurfing, where you have to slide down the slope on a simple wooden board, without bindings. After watching Dylan, we think it's possible. Well, it's not easy. Laughter, fun, physical exertion—Powsurfing is truly a complete sport. -- For more information on avalanches in Quebec, visit: https://avalanchequebec.ca/ Thanks to Jean-François Michaud 0:00 Intro with Powpic 0:28 Presentation of the FQME's "Our Traces" series 0:47 We head to Mont Lyall in the Gaspé Peninsula 1:30 We meet Jean-François Michaud, lumberjack and land manager for the Coop Accès Chic-Chocs. 2:30 The cabin at the base of Mont Lyall. 3:58 Troll Sector at Mont Lyall in the Gaspé Peninsula 5:05 Skiing down the Troll Face, Mont Lyall 7:50 Lumberjack Tales 8:38 Camino de Santiago at Mont Lyall, Chic-Chocs 8:52 Powpic Shows Off His Skiing Skills 9:36 Skiing the Troll Face on a New Line, at Mont Lyall 10:37 Recap of the Day with JF Michaud at Mont Lyall 11:57 How to Powsurf in the Gaspé Peninsula with Dylan Page, Our Cameraman and Director of the Series 13:42 Dylan Invites Bonhomme Carnaval to Powsurf 14:26 Powpic Goes Powsurfing Nos Traces is a series produced by the Fédération québécoise de la montagne et de l'escalade (Quebec Federation of Mountaineering and Climbing) Production: Maxime Bolduc Direction, Cinematography and Editing: Dylan Page Photography Animation: René-Martin Trudel Assistant to the Production: Mijanou Colbert Skiing Ace: Powpic #skigaspesie #skichicchocs #skimountain
