Gastrulation, Neuralation, and Somites!!! | Animated Embryology Series (Part 1.2)
Hey everyone and welcome back! In this episode of our animated embryology series, we move into one of the most pivotal chapters of development: gastrulation, neurulation, and the formation of somites. We’ll watch the flat embryonic disc transform into three germ layers, see how the notochord sets up the body’s first axis, and follow the neural plate as it folds into the neural tube. From there, we’ll explore how somites emerge in sequence to lay out the body’s segmentation and future vertebrae. This stretch of weeks three and four is where the embryo’s blueprint truly comes alive! As always, I hope you find it helpful and maybe even a little inspiring. Feel free to leave your thoughts or suggestions for what you’d like to see next. Cheers, Kaleab
