Parto de cabra no meio da gravação: veja como a nossa equipe agiu
Of the 10 female goats separated to give birth, 9 had already given birth in less than a week. The tenth was still to come when the camera turned on. And it didn't wait. The episode records live the moment of birth of one of Coruja's goats, and takes the opportunity to show the management adopted on the farm during this phase, from beginning to end. The first decision is made even before the birth: separate the females close to their due date and bring them closer together. In the bush, the risk of predation is real. The umbilical cord is also not disinfected. The control that separation allows is simple and solves both problems. Inside the paddock, the rule is not to interfere. The birth happens spontaneously in the vast majority of cases, whether the goat has had several offspring or is a first-time mother. The team observes, but does not touch. What is monitored in these first hours is maternal aptitude: the mother needs to lick, clean, and accept the offspring. And the kid needs to stand up and nurse. Access to colostrum in the first few hours is what guarantees the animal's initial immunity. Colostrum is the first vaccine, and it's administered by the mother herself. Only after this comes human intervention: cutting the umbilical cord three fingers' width from the belly, disinfection with an iodine solution, and deworming the mother immediately after birth, which passes protection against worms to the offspring through her milk. From the tenth day onwards, the excess milk can be used. As the breed is specialized in milk production, it exceeds what the offspring consumes, and the residual milk needs to be collected to prevent mammary infection. No drama, no complications. ───────────────────────────── WHAT YOU WILL LEARN IN THIS EPISODE Why separate females before giving birth and what is the risk of giving birth in the wild How to identify maternal fitness and what to do if the mother does not accept the offspring Why colostrum in the first few hours is more important than any vaccine How to correctly cut the umbilical cord and which product to use for disinfection Why apply dewormer to the mother immediately after giving birth From when can the milk be used and how to avoid mammary infection 00:00 - Live birth 01:01 - Why separate before 01:12 - Do not interfere with the birth 01:39 - What to observe 02:15 - Colostrum: the first vaccine 02:40 - Time to act 02:50 - Umbilical cord: cutting and disinfection 03:29 - Deworming the mother 03:50 - Observation and development 04:00 - From the tenth day FOLLOW US ON INSTAGRAM: / fazendacoruja #FazendaCoruja #LifeInTheCountryside #NortheasternCariri #RuralProduction #GoatRaising #CattleRaising #GoatCheese #ArtisanalCheese #GoatMilk #PastureManagement #BuffelGrass #GrassStock #RuralOptimization #RuralProperty #FieldTips #AgroCariri #SertãoDoCariri #PrecisionAgriculture #SustainabilityInTheCountryside #RuralLife #FarmRoutine #CaririCulture #RuralKnowledge #CountrysideForBeginners #LearningInTheCountryside #WorkInTheCountryside #AgroArt #ResponsibleRaising #AnimalFeed #FarmManagement #DairyProduction #ArtisanalCheesemaking #RootsOfTheCariri #CorujaTerritory #CountrysideStories #FlavorOfTheSertão #FromTheCountrysideToYou #CaririFarm #AnimalManagement #NortheastAgro #PrecisionLivestock #LivingSertão #CorujaThroughCariri
