250 Sheep Take On 20 Years of Neglect

We bought this 250-acre fire-scarred ranch in January, and it hadn't seen animals in nearly 20+ years. The grass had grown up, dried out, and stalled, oxidized fuel just sitting there, a major fire risk and a dead end for the soil. So we brought in 250 sheep to take it on. This is one of our first real steps in restoring the land: knocking down two decades of neglected growth, waking up the soil, and returning some fertility to the valley. The sheep come from Cori Carlson at Napa Pasture Protein, who uses managed grazing to reduce fire risk and rebuild land like ours. This is what it looked like when they arrived. New here?
