[GMR/HM] Mereston station demolition (and BOTCHING IT!) in September 2025

Back in September 2025, the grand 6-platform station in Hermitia's largest town was demolished. The station was a rebuild of the original station on the hill (from 2019), which wasn't finished until 2023. Now, two "oopsies" and 1 mess later, it's all been flattened again. As shown in-video, the land occupied by the station is being split 3 different ways. What was platform 1 and 2 is being retained as the passenger station (and, as of April 2026, has been completed and reopened). The station only handles 1 train per hour (tph) in the Suchester/Weavern direction and only 1tp2h (half that) in the Howston direction, so 6 passenger platforms (even 3) is excessive. The site of platforms 3 and 4 are being converted into the traction maintenance depot for the local DMUs (the Class 165 units on passenger runs) and the site of platforms 5 and 6 is going to become a small depot for handling container freight, since Mereston is the logistical centre of Hermitia and is home to most industries' distribution. However, as of April 2026, neither of these have made any significant progress, and doesn't look much different to what you see here from 7 months ago.
