[GMR/HM] R1 (& R1 D) detailed road flyover (both directions) (May 2026)

The R1 is a major road transport corridor across Hermitia. It winds through the Northern region's main towns of Pentingley, Reskerton and Basinton, as well as easy access to Nordic Fenston, Ruston, Fexton power station and the Noweston/Spelltip Island area. The bottom of the road is a major corridor between the capital city and largest town (Suchester and Mereston resp.) and is the country's only dual carriageway (which in Minecraft is motorway standards). Sections of it have existed since 2020, but the full completed route has only just opened in May 2026. 00:05 and 20:37 - Pentingley The road between Pentingley and Sowley was originally the I221 (the cut-off stub of its original alignment is visible at 00:32/20:20, and a short bit of the lane into Sowley is still designated the I221). It was widened, improved and redesignated the R1 in 2023. 00:39 and 20:07 - Sowley Bypass The section of road at 00:55/19:58 was originally a narrow country lane which first existed in 2019, but was widened, improved and redesignated the R1 in 2023. The junction by the green bridge (at 01:06/19:58) was originally a right turn since the R1 onto the Newleth bypass did not exist. The country lane remains untouched. Heiston Lane, which is a left-only junction at 01:10/19:47, was not accessible to road vehicles from 2019-2023 since it was severed from the rest of the village by the Great Minecraft Railway. A footbridge was built in early 2020 (saving a detour to a now-closed foot crossing), but road traffic only started reaching the road once the Newleth bypass opened in 2023. 01:15 and 19:38 - Newleth Bypass The roundabout at 01:28/19:33 has only just been built in May 2026 as one of the "finishing touches". It was originally a country lane with a turning onto the original R1 in 2020, but when the Newleth bypass opened in 2023 it became a triangular junction (like the one seen at 01:06/19:58). The roundabout was built to improve safety and open up development the other side of the R1 at a later date. The section of road between the Newleth top roundabout and the fringe of Newton-le-Sire (starting 01:35/18:46) was the very first section of the R1 to ever exist, opening around the new year of 2020. It has since been improved, with the junction for Gousi (02:16/18:57) also slightly remodelled with a "give way and turn right" lane. The road's first crossing of the Great Minecraft Railway is the flyover at 02:28/18:47. 02:39 and 18:20 - Newton [-le-Sire] Bypass Until this month's "finishing touches", you used to be able to turn right off the R1 into Newton-le-Sire at (02:52/18:22), however since the space doesn't really allow for a "give way and turn right" lane (and because one can access the whole village from the previous roundabout anyway), it was made into a "no right turn". 03:25 and 17:37 - Reskerton Bypass The country's first bypass; opened in early 2020 and was originally designated the R2 (until 2022). The roundabout at the top of the town (03:25/17:58) was originally a triangular junction; the new development and improvement in this area took place at the end of 2024. 03:56 and 17:18 - the I20 interchange This junction was created with the R1 (then numbered R2) in 2020 and was the primary route into the town centre avoiding the level crossings (which nowadays do not exist as the railway was elevated onto a bridge in 2024). It became an interchange when the I20 to Nordic Fenston was started sometime in 2024, and was improved and expanded in late 2025. The roundabout at 04:26/17:01 is more or less where the original R2 ended and became the I21 (which runs through the village of Newcotte, to Ruston). 04:31 and 16:47 - Newcotte Bypass Much like at the top of Newton-le-Sire, you used to be able to turn right off the R1 at 04:45/16:39 but space constraints, and a better alternative route being further back, meant that a "no right turn" was created. This short section of road linking the I21 and R1 was originally created at the other (Newcotte) end in 2020 and was designated the I22. In preparation for the I22's construction, a brick railway bridge was built at the matching coordinates (04:54/16:31) over the now-closed branch line to Nordic Fenston. That means this bridge simply existed with no connecting road from 2020 until 2024, when it was incorporated into the current R1! The bridge has also just been slightly widened in May 2026. The I22 no longer exists in any format, which is why the I-roads meeting the R1 go I20, I21, I23, I24, I25. I HVE FILLED THE CHARACTER LIMIT - CONTINUED IN PINNED COMMENT BELOW!
