Our parsha deals with the dispute between Korah and his group and Moses, may God have mercy on him. Korah, along with Dathan and Abiram and two hundred and fifty other men, rebelled against the people against Moses and Aaron and challenged their leadership. Korah claimed against Moses and Aaron that they were taking power and authority for themselves, while many of the people were also worthy of leadership. In the end, they were all lost from the world, as it is said: "And the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up with their houses... and they went down and all who had a living soul were buried, and the earth covered them over, and they perished from among the people" (16:33-33). It is quoted in Midrash Rabbah: Rabbi Barachiah said, how difficult the dispute is, that in the court of the highest court there are no judges except those who are twenty years old and above, and in the court of the lowest court, those who are thirteen years old, and in the dispute of Korah [even] infants of one day old were burned and swallowed up in the netherworld, as it is written: "They went down and all who had a living soul were buried." They also said that four were called "Wicked" and one of them is someone who is a disputer, as it is said (ibid. 26) "Depart now from the tents of these wicked men" [were Korach and his congregation]. The time of the people of Israel before the redemption is also called "the pains of childbirth" like a pregnant woman who is giving birth to a child, and as the time of birth approaches, they feel the pain and the frequent contractions that come, so the Messiah will die. As they approach the redemption of the people of Israel, they feel more and more the pangs of childbirth. And the sages have already prophesied to us all that will happen before the birth of the Messiah. Rabbi Jonathan Eybschitz says there, that at the time of Purim, the people of Israel were at the end of the seventy years that they were destined to be in exile, but a large part of the people went and deviated from the path of their ancestors. In order for them to be redeemed and return to their land, the Holy Land, it was necessary to summon for them the evil manna, which is the serpent, to bring them to repentance. And so it was. And Esther was likened to this doe, through whom the redemption of Israel from exile will be accomplished – a new birth, to bring them to the Holy Land. The Persecution of Judaism and Torah Scholars – “The Birth of the Messiah” This is how God will be in the future redemption. We are witnessing the troubles that are being imposed on the world of the Torah. It is difficult for the people of Israel to rise up alone, sometimes they need a helping hand. What does God do? He sends a snake to bite them. Chazal say in the Book of the Law, page 11, about the verse “I wish God had a man to help us” – a man and not a king, this is Haman. The wicked Haman was not a king, he was only a minister to the king. This should also be said in the last exile, that the main decrees will not necessarily come from the king himself, but from those close to the kingdom, like Haman. This snake will find the time when the doe [the Knesset of Israel] is in its most difficult times, right before the birth – the birth of the Messiah, and during this difficult time, it will seek to bite. There is no eye that does not see the relentless persecution of the people who believe in His name, the people who long for and expect the salvation of God, and especially the Torah scholars, Rach. There are those who did not receive the kingdom from the people, but rather took the kingdom for themselves, and seek to despise the workers of the Torah wherever possible, to take revenge and bite them at all times, to deprive them of all their rights and turn them into subhumans, etc., etc. But we must know that all of this is from Him, blessed be His name, for through this the people fully repent, they come closer, they cry out more, they give their lives to Judaism in general and to the study of the Torah in particular. And immediately after that comes the time of birth, the Messiah. After all, the snake and the doe hate each other, and do not get along. The snake is on a path to revenge and revenge. As the Sages say in the Book of Yoma, page 22, a.d., "Every learned scholar who does not avenge and revenge is like a snake..." And here he sees the doe at her most difficult time, when she is about to die, he immediately hatches his plan and seizes the opportunity to take revenge on her, going and biting her instead of the womb. At that time, the snake must be enjoying the sweet revenge and the bitter lesson that he taught the doe that it is not worth messing with him anymore. But he does not know that it was precisely here that he performed the "act of saving" the doe. If he had held back just one more moment, the doe would have taken her life. He is the one who came and saved her. And not only did he save her, but he brought another doe ...
