Junk Journal July UK 2026 | Day 1: Relaxed Franken Pages Beginning a Month of Creative Play

This year I'm creating a whimsical junk journal/art journal inspired by the beautiful Whimsical Woodland digital kit from Bee Happy Stationary. Rather than planning every page in advance, I'm letting the daily prompts and the kit itself guide the creative process. My goal is simple: spend 20–60 minutes each day creating without overthinking. Today's prompt is Relaxed, and that perfectly describes this project. I began by digging through my stash of cardstock scraps and pulling colors that echoed the bright, cheerful palette of the Whimsical Woodland kit—magentas, pinks, teals, blues, oranges, and sunny yellows. Instead of throwing those scraps away, I'm giving them new life by creating coordinated Franken papers that will become the foundation of this journal. As I work, I'm borrowing inspiration directly from the kit—its colors, patterns, and playful feel. I add a little stenciling to book pages and music paper, experiment with layered inks, and simply enjoy the process of making without worrying whether every decision is "right." Sometimes creativity feels easiest when we stop trying to invent something entirely new and instead allow beautiful colors, patterns, and materials to lead the way. I hope this series encourages you to carve out a little creative time each day, embrace imperfection, and simply enjoy making something with your own hands.
