The Persona is the social mask that we wear in order to fulfill a role in the social matrix. In order to have a healthy Persona, we must learn to make the Persona authentic and transparent so that it is more reflective of the full depth and breadth of our psyche and personality. This Persona is the outermost layer of the psyche in the Jungian Psychological Model. So, the Persona is often a reflection of the Ego. And if we do Shadow Work, we can reintegrate our repressed traits and bring them up to the light of consciousness. So, when reintegrating the Shadow through Shadow Work we want to extend our awareness into areas of our awareness that we habitually ignore. This will enable us to create an even healthier Persona. Though the theory of the Persona originates with Carl G. Jung, I share my own perspective on the Persona along with my personal experiences with various issues and best practices for constructing the social mask.
