Policiais são presos por extorsão em hotel de luxo em SC

Two military police officers were arrested after being accused of demanding half a million reais to avoid arresting a fugitive. The incident occurred at a luxury hotel on Itapema beach, Santa Catarina. Corporals Bruno and Milton dos Santos Júnior approached the suspect, José Osvaldo, at the hotel and accepted the offered amount to avoid arresting him. Osvaldo was wanted by the Federal Police and Interpol for his involvement with a financial institution that allegedly embezzled nearly R$1 billion from investors. He was identified at the hotel through an anonymous tip alerting authorities to his presence under a false identity. After receiving the bribe, the officers left without executing the arrest warrant against Osvaldo. However, later that day, other officers arrived at the hotel and arrested him. During the operation, R$5 million in US dollars were found in the suspect's room. The Military Police's internal affairs department is investigating whether the money paid to the corrupt officers has been recovered or hidden by them before their arrests.
