With the recent amendment to Article 54 of the Labor Standards Act, an exception has been newly established allowing for the non-granting of a break during a 4-hour workday if the worker explicitly requests not to use the break time. However, contrary to the misconception many people have, this does not mean that all break times will be eliminated. This amendment applies only to exceptions where the working time is exactly 4 hours, and an explicit request from the worker is mandatory.
