MATCHBOX restoration: 34B Volkswagen Caravette

Restoring a Lesney Matchbox No. 34B Volkswagen Caravette, in the Matchbox range from 1962 until 1967. Microbus, Bus, Vanagon, Transporter, Caravelle, Caravette, Camper, Kombi, Hippie Van, Hippie Bus, Minibus, EuroVan, California, MultiVan, Doubleback, T25, Splitscreen, Splittie, Bay, Early Bay, Late Bay, the Wedge, or even Pão de Forma (loaf of bread). Call it what you will, but all of these names refer to at least one of the T1 to T6 generations of the Volkswagen Type 2 or Transporter family of vans. Never has a series of vehicle earned so many nicknames. Not even the Type 1 (Beetle) can compete. I take this classic casting of an iconic van and restore it close to the original by replacing the missing doors, clearing the cloudy windows, giving it a new lease of life with a fresh coat of paint, and chroming up the rest of the trim. Simple yet effective, this bus and it's VW predecessor and successors are classics of the Matchbox range.
