On May 17, 2025, the Mikado steam locomotive 141.R.1244 from the Mikado 1244 association undertook a grand tour through the Emmental region to celebrate the anniversary of “150 years of the Emmental Railway.” The steam locomotive traveled from Zurich via Brugg, Aarau, Olten, Solothurn, Grenchen Süd, Lyss, Ostermundigen, Konolfingen, and Hasle-Rüegsau to Burgdorf. In the evening, it continued its journey through Sumiswald, Huttwil, Wolhusen, Lucerne, Rotkreuz, and Wohlen before returning to Zurich. The anniversary festival “150 Years of the Emmental Railway” invites visitors on May 17 and 18, 2025, to experience a vibrant journey through railway history—featuring historic special trains, exciting attractions, and interactive experiences.
