David plays in bar 5 the G flat in the first count; takes a rest and plays the other G flat towards the A flat on the third count. He does the same in bar 6 where he takes a rest between the two D flat notes. This makes the bassline ‘breathe’ (atleast in my opinion). He improvises in the outro of the song and makes a great combination of chosen notes and the timing of the notes (bars 65 – 75) . Kate Bush wrote the song when she was 18. She was inspired by the novel Wuthering Heights of Emily Bronte. Wuthering Heights is sung from the perspective of the character Catherine Earnshaw pleading at Heathcliff’s window to be allowed in.
