Los años perdidos del Museo de Arte de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia

In the midst of the first international art biennial in Bogotá, we want to highlight a museum that should be part of this event but has been closed for three years: the National University's Art Museum. Although it's sometimes forgotten, museums are essential for preserving, educating, and connecting people with their history and identity. This museum, fundamental to the country's artistic memory, closed due to lack of maintenance. Today in A Fondo, we're joined by María Belén Sáez de Ibarra, director of the Cultural Heritage Department at the National University of Colombia, who has faced the difficult task of watching this invaluable space abandoned. Meanwhile, its valuable collection of more than 400 works remains packed and stored. How is it possible that a museum like this remains closed, and what will it take to reopen it?
