It is caused by fluid accumulation and can manifest as a blister, usually transparent, causing symptoms such as itching, tearing, or blurred vision, and in some cases, difficulty closing the eye. This eye swelling is usually caused by an allergy, but it can also be caused by a viral or bacterial infection. Chemosis is treated according to the cause of the condition, and depending on the cause, cold compresses or even antibiotics in the form of eye drops or eye ointments may be indicated. The most common symptoms associated with ocular chemosis include: Eye irritation; Itching; Redness; Eyelid swelling; A feeling of grit in the eye. In addition, difficulty closing the eye may occur due to swelling. It is important to consult an ophthalmologist as soon as possible, as closing the eyes is important for lubricating the eyeball and protecting the eyes from dust and other irritants. Treatment of ocular chemosis should be performed under the guidance of an ophthalmologist, who may recommend the use of cold compresses on the eye area to reduce swelling. Furthermore, the use of eye drops containing phenylephrine and dexamethasone may be recommended by the doctor after blepharoplasty, and in more severe cases, surgery may be performed to drain the fluid from the eye. During treatment of ocular chemosis, it is important to discontinue contact lens use for a few days.
