Sling TSI: The Final Upgrades Before Handover

I'm getting ready to take delivery of my Sling TSi! In this episode we break down the 5 essentials every new owner should plan before first flight: Storage (Hangarage), Fuelling Systems, Camera & Tech Mounts, Comms + Safety, and the Sling Kit—what actually comes with the plane and I'd love some help from all the Sling, Bristell, Van's and other experimental owners. We start at YCOR (Corowa Airport) and talk through the realities of a small country airstrip—access, security, and hangar logistics—before diving into the big decision: MOGAS vs AVGAS (or a mix). Once that’s set, I show the exact gear I chose: the Emilcaddy 110 (Italian-designed, MOGAS-approved portable refuelling unit), Scepter 25-L jerry cans for top-ups, an anti-static jiggle siphon hose, and the Mr Funnel to catch debris and water. Next, we mount the cameras. Outside, I’m using Nflightcam solutions; inside the cockpit I’ve gone with Quad Lock and RAM mounts to keep action cams and screens rock solid. I also run through the current camera lineup: DJI Action 5, Osmo Nano, and Osmo Pocket 3. On Comms + Safety, I’m flying with Lightspeed Delta Zulu headsets—love the Flight Link recorder and CO detection. Add in a pulse oximeter for SpO₂ checks, a compact multi-tool, and bright in-cabin flashlights for night ops and maintenance. Finally, we answer a huge question for anyone approaching handover: what’s in the Sling kit? I open the boxes and show exactly what you can expect to receive with the aircraft. And after a tough last episode, we revisit the weight & balance snag that grounded the ferry flight—this time with promising news on the path to getting VH-KCB home.
