Putting a Dead Touareg on a Pedestal Was a Terrible Idea

The mission was simple: drag our knackered VW Touareg onto the top of a mound and display it like some sort of automotive monument. The problem was that nobody involved appeared to know what they were doing. Armed with a winch, misplaced confidence, and a complete disregard for the warning signs, we set about turning a broken Touareg into a work of art. What followed was a masterclass in wasted effort, mechanical abuse, and poor decision-making. The Touareg never made it to the top. The winch didn’t enjoy the experience either. To add some context, this Touareg is no longer roadworthy after losing compression in the engine, so it has been retired from normal duties and reassigned to a life of increasingly questionable experiments. We had planned to use a new Ox winch for this challenge, but in a fitting start to proceedings, it broke after 3 months of use (SO DO NOT BUY AN OX WINCH). So we dusted off our old cheap Ebay special winch and hoped for the best. As you’ll see, that may not have been the wisest move.
