Who Holds the Microphone: Shanti Mohila Women, Bangladesh
In this video, Rohingya women from the Shanti Mohila (Peace Women) group recount how they went from meeting in the camp to overcome the trauma of violence and displacement, to 400 of them signing the request urging the International Criminal Court to open an investigation into the atrocities committed against their people. With more than 2,000 women now involved with the group, they discuss how local camp management and the international humanitarian community can support their struggle for justice and rights. Who Holds the Microphone is a series of UN Women-produced participatory videos that allow crisis-affected women to speak about the initiatives they self-developed and implement in order to create transformative change for themselves, their dependents and their communities. This project was funded by the US Government.
