Who Holds the Microphone: Shanti Khana Women, Bangladesh

In this participatory video, women share their experiences from the Shanti Khana (Peace Center) in Camp 14 in Cox’s Bazaar. They have been taught basic literacy skills, and have received training on hygiene and sanitation, family planning, and physical exercises that they teach to others in the community. They value the respect they enjoy within the community, despite the persistence of restrictive gender roles for women, and aspire to educate themselves so they can educate more women. Who Holds the Microphone is a series of UN Women-produced participatory videos that allow crisis-affected women to speak about the initiatives they self-developed and implement in order to create transformative change for themselves, their dependents and their communities.  This project was funded by the US Government.
