C-SHARP and the Power of Research That Matters | Global Health Webinar Series 2026

How can research meaningfully improve primary healthcare in local communities? In this Global Health Webinar Series session, Dr Hannah Hussey, Director of C-SHARP and Senior Researcher/Public Health Specialist at the School of Public Health, shares insights into C-SHARP, an urban Health and Demographic Surveillance System node based in the Western Cape. The initiative works in communities including Bishop Lavis and Nomzamo, integrating research surveillance into community-oriented primary healthcare and tracking key health and living condition indicators. C-SHARP collaborates with the Western Cape Government: Health and Wellness, the City of Cape Town, and local universities to support stronger, evidence-informed healthcare systems.
