Using wood bleach to create a high end look

From Basic to Beautiful | High-End Makeover of Costco Nightstands These oval nightstands started out as a very ordinary Costco find—functional, but far from high-end. I saw the potential right away and set out to give them a completely elevated look. I began by stripping the tops down to bare wood, which revealed even more of the beautiful inlay detail hidden beneath the factory finish. Instead of doing a traditional tan wash, I used a two-part wood bleach to lighten the wood naturally while keeping the grain and inlays front and center. After a thorough scuff sand from top to bottom, I masked off the freshly stripped tops and moved the nightstands into the spray tent. Primer, paint, and several coats of protective topcoat gave the base a smooth, durable finish. Once everything was dry, I unmasked the tops and added additional coats of clear finish to protect and enhance the natural wood tones. The final touch? Champagne gold hardware that added just the right amount of elegance and contrast. Now, what started as simple and ordinary feels sophisticated, custom, and completely one-of-a-kind.
