Clearing up the Main Misconception of Feminism | Andrea Contreras | TEDxYouth@NidodeAguilas
The misinformation regarding feminism is startling. The belief that feminism is just a bunch of crazy women saying that men are monstrous creatures and are inferior is beyond mistaken. Feminism has changed so much over the years, evolving into a beautiful community of all kinds of activists. Feminism started out as a movement solely advocating for women’s rights, to speaking up against topics such as toxic masculinity and the need to end climate change. The plan of Feminists is not to switch the roles of discrimination, instead, it is activism in favor of ending discrimination altogether. My TEDx Talk discusses the meaning of feminism and clears up the misconceptions about this movement. For instance, I explain that it wants to give access to free choice and opportunities. Furthermore, my Ted Talk aims to inform the audience that Feminism is not treating men poorly in the name of activism. Likewise, my talk seeks to correct the women out there that believe their poor behavior and hypocrisy are excusable in the name of equality. I hope I clarified all the previous points mentioned. Thank you so much for listening to my TEDx Talk! I hope you continue to learn more about feminism and support the movement that fights for everyone's rights! Andrea Contreras is a student at the International School Nido de Aguilas. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
