Civil Air Patrol - Grid Search - Electronic Search - What’s an ELT Sound Like?

On this flight we performed a search in DCA Grid 70 Delta for an ELT. In the video you’ll see us fly a few legs of the grid search and pickup the ELT on the Becker direction finder. This gives us a relative bearing to the ELT and allows us to fly to it and report lat/longs to mission base - who can disseminate the information and send out ground teams as required. This is all part of an exercise. EXERCISE ONLY. The ELT in this video is realistic in sound and was an actual practice ELT. These devices transmit on 121.775, as to not block an legitimate ELT on 121.5, 243.0, 406 etc.
