During this stage, uterine contractions continue, helping the placenta detach from the uterine wall ๐ธ. Signs of placental separation include a sudden gush of blood, lengthening of the umbilical cord, and a firm, contracting uterus. Active management of this stage often involves administering uterotonic drugs like oxytocin to enhance uterine contractions and prevent postpartum hemorrhage ๐ผ. In contrast, expectant management allows the placenta to deliver naturally. Complications like postpartum hemorrhage and retained placenta require prompt intervention to ensure maternal safety. The third stage of labor is a time-sensitive period where careful monitoring and management are essential for preventing complications and ensuring a smooth recovery for the mother ๐. #ThirdStageOfLabor #PlacentalSeparation #LaborAndDelivery #Obstetrics #PostpartumCare #MaternalHealth #WomensHealth #Childbirth #PostpartumHemorrhage #Placenta #Oxytocin #LaborManagement #NewMom #HealthyPregnancy #PregnancyCare #FMGEPreparation #NEETPG #USMLE #MedicalEducation #MedStudent #DoctorLife #ExamPrep #MedicalNotes #Gynecology #ObGyn #BirthProcess #HealthcareProfessionals #LaborCare #Midwifery #PerinatalCare
