Circumnavigating the amazing Lough Neagh, UK and Ireland's biggest lake.

This video circumnavigates the UK and Irelands biggest lake, Lough Neagh. We begin at Kinnego Marina, between Barton's Bay and Oxford Island. This part of the shore offers facilities for camping and caravanning and is a great place to unwind along the numerous nature trails. Boating and fishing are popular activities here. A lot of work goes into these videos. You can now buy me a pint as a means of appreciation for my work on Naked Ireland, no obligation, obviously - only if you can afford it... I appreciate it. Cheers. https://www.buymeacoffee.com/NakedIre... Just further to the west is the Oxford Island Nature Reserve, with its beautiful woodland areas, again offering wonderful nature walks. In fact it's designated a National Nature Reserve due to its habitats such as reed beds, open water, wildlife ponds, forests and wildflower meadows. Doubling back past Kinnego Marina again we travel anti clockwise around this 392 sq km lough, the largest in Ireland and the British Isles, we pass beautiful farmland until we arrive at our next destination of the Antrim Lough Shore Park. This is located on the top right hand corner of the lough and again boasts a caravan park, boat trips as well as walks along the Sixmilewater and on into Castle gardens. There are great picnic areas and everything needed for a family day out. The rivers feeding the lough are the upper River Bann and the River Blackwater. The lower Bann flows out from the lough northwards towards the sea. The whole of the lough is owned by the Earl of Shaftsbury and there's some continued controversy whether that will remain the case. Some people feel that the lough belongs to everyone and that the Earl should sell it, if not gift it, the the Northern Ireland Assembly. We then travel to Ballyronan Marina on the north west of the lough. This area was awarded blue flag status in 2010 and, again, there are nature trails here as well as opportunities for sailing and boat trips on the Maid of Antrim Cruiser. Traveling south along the western side of the lough we next arrive at Battery Harbour, another picturesque spot where picnics can be taken and days out can be had. As well as the harbour there, there's also a bar. But the harbour is also very close to a very important historical site, the Ardoe High Cross and Monastery. This will feature in a future Naked Ireland video, so look out for that. Wikipedia site: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lough_N...
