Why This Belfast Hike Beats Every Tourist Spot in Northern Ireland
I explore Divis and Black Mountain above Belfast City. The two mountains are the highest points in County Antrim boasting views across the city underneath and across much of Northern Ireland. *WATCH MORE NORTHERN IRELAND CONTENT HERE* • The Best of Northern Ireland Divis and the Black Mountain rest in the heart of the Belfast Hills and provide a backdrop to an incredible panoramic cityscape along the 'Ridge Trail'. A mosaic of grassland and heathland bog, they are home to a host of wildlife and archaeological remains. Divis stands at 478 metres (1,562ft) and Black Mountain at 390 metres (1,275ft). On this video I discover 'The Ridge Trail' which is a gravel and stone pitched trail taking you towards the large Divis transmitter masts, turning right across the wooden boardwalk and onward to the summit of the Black Mountain, which is marked by a trigonometry pillar. This is Belfast's most spectacular viewpoint and on a clear day, Scotland, the Isle of Man and Cumbria are also visible. The other walking trails on the mountain range include; The Summit Trail is a 3 mile steep walk to the summit of Divis Mountain offering panoramic views towards Donegal, Scotland, Cumbria, Isle of Man, Wales and everything in-between. The Heath Trail can be a mucky route around the northern slope of Divis Mountain, offering views towards Slemish Mountain. Turf was once extracted on Divis Mountain and today remains to a depth of 4 metres in places. #mountain #mountains #belfast #views #ireland #trails #northernireland #viewingpoint #walkingtour #walking #panoramicview #tallestpoint #highestpoint #mountainview #walkingvlog #divis #blackmountain #countyantrim #antrim #ulster #scotland #isleofman4k #daysout #hiddengems #review #tourism --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take a look into everyday life in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
