ELIAS: O FOGO QUE CAIU DO CÉU NO MONTE CARMELO

On Day 161 of our journey, the electrifying saga of the prophet Elijah begins. He announces a drought, is fed by ravens, multiplies a widow's food, resurrects a boy, and faces 450 prophets of Baal alone on Mount Carmel, where God's fire falls from heaven. Around this story, Proverbs teaches us to seek wisdom as a treasure, Paul gives himself entirely to the Gospel, and the Catechism reveals why the liturgy is the summit and source of faith. A day about ceasing to hesitate and surrendering completely to God. 📖 Today's Readings: 📘 Old Testament — 1 Kings 17–18 Elijah appears, announcing a great drought and being fed by ravens by the brook Cherith. In Zarephath, a widow's flour and oil do not run out, and the prophet resurrects her son. The climax takes place on Mount Carmel: before 450 prophets of Baal, Elijah prays and the fire of the Lord descends from heaven, leading the people to confess that the Lord alone is God. 📜 Proverbs — 2 The master instructs the disciple to welcome his words and seek wisdom as one seeks silver or a hidden treasure. Whoever does so understands the fear of the Lord and finds the knowledge of God. Wisdom then becomes a shield, protecting from crooked paths and seductions that lead to death. ✝️ New Testament — 1 Corinthians 9 Paul argues that preachers of the Gospel have the right to be supported, but reveals that he himself gave up this right so as not to create obstacles to the message of Christ. Moved by "woe to me if I do not preach the Gospel," he becomes all things to all people and disciplines himself like an athlete in pursuit of the eternal prize. 📚 Catechism — Paragraphs 1071–1075 The liturgy is the work of Christ and the action of his Church, requiring conscious, active, and fruitful participation.
