Toro TimeCutter Single Click No Start? Full Diagnosis On Starter, Solenoid & Kohler V-Twin Engine

Toro TimeCutter single click no start problem? In this video we diagnose and repair a Toro TimeCutter SS4225 model 74721 zero turn mower that would only make a single click when trying to start This mower is equipped with a Kohler 7000 Series V twin engine, and we go through the full troubleshooting process step by step to find the real cause of the no start issue We start by checking the basic safety and parking brake operation on. Since this mower uses an electric parking brake, we show why both steering arms must be fully out and explain what you should hear when the brake disengages and re-engages From there, we move into battery connection checks, battery voltage testing, and what to look for when diagnosing electrical issues on a zero turn mower that only clicks once When the mower makes the single click, it sounds and feels like the starter solenoid is working, so we explain how to test that next We show how to jump the starter solenoid safely to see if the starter itself is working, and we also explain how to verify the engine is not locked up and that the starter is not jammed At first, the starter does not crank when jumped, which leads us to replace the starter with a new OEM Kohler starter, since that is usually the best choice on these Kohler V twin engines After replacing the starter, the Toro still only gives a single click when turning the key At that point, we continue diagnosing instead of guessing. When we jump the two top posts of the solenoid, the starter cranks the engine and the mower starts, which tells us the starter circuit issue is still upstream We then test the trigger wires going to the solenoid coil and confirm voltage is reaching the solenoid when the key is turned Since the solenoid is getting the proper signal from the secondary coil but not passing voltage across the main posts, we confirm the starter solenoid is bad and replace it After installing the new solenoid everything works exactly as it should This video is helpful if your mower will not start and only clicks once It also applies to many common electrical no start problems involving a bad starter, bad solenoid, weak connections, safety issue or parking brake related starting issues If your mower just clicks once and will not crank, this video will show you how to narrow it down the right way instead of wasting money on unnecessary parts Thank you for watching!!
