This was one of the most unique and memorable food experiences we've had! The festival of Kang (Rath Yatra) is one of Manipur's biggest celebrations, observed by the Meitei Vaishnavite community. Inspired by the famous Rath Yatra of Puri, Odisha, the 10-day festival is filled with devotion, music, dance, and community feasting. Every evening, devotees come together to offer prayers, sing devotional songs, perform the beautiful Choitep Chongba dance, and share the Lord's Prasad. And we got to taste this incredible festive platter! Served traditionally on a lotus leaf, the thali featured Khechri, crispy pakora, Ooti with fresh bamboo shoots, pumpkin sabzi, Singju, mustard chutney with green chillies, fiery green chilli paste, and sweet slices of pineapple—a perfect blend of flavours, textures, and traditions. This isn't just food—it's culture served on a leaf. From comforting flavours to bold Manipuri spices, every bite tells a story of faith, heritage, and celebration.
