Last Run of the Triple Crown RoadRailer (1986-2024)

On August 25th, 2024, Norfolk Southern ran its very last Triple Crown RoadRailer between Detroit and Kansas City after 38 years of service. Train 255 departed the motor city for the final time in the early morning hours and made it into Illinois around mid-day. I began my chase at Catlin and followed the historic run through Decatur and into Springfield. Very fittingly, the train was led by C40-9W #9936, a unit that will likely soon be rebuilt and join the ever-growing fleet of AC44C6Ms. ————————————————————————— Thanks for watching!
