Ka'iwi Channel Crossing Kai Wa'a Vela
As we prepare to race in the Molokai Solo this coming May, we needed to practice and learn how to cross this massive channel. We scored near perfect conditions for this run with surf ranging from 5'-8'. This was my first time crossing on an OC1 and also this was one the first Vela's to cross the channel. Kai Wa'a's new Vela really did great on this run, it had plenty a glide heading north between the swell and when the hull speed was up you could just turn left and surf.
