Tiny House | North Island Begins: Stormy Seas, Dodgy Tyres & Family Fun.
We’re heading NORTH! After six unforgettable months exploring the South Island of New Zealand in our self-built tiny home, it’s time to chase new adventures in the North Island. In this episode, we kick things off with a wild Cook Strait crossing — rough seas, strong winds, and serious ferry memories from my days as a deckhand. We return to our hometown of Napier to catch up with family (and our dog Toby!) and tackle some much-needed tiny home maintenance — including a tyre saga that nearly stopped us in our tracks. From there, it’s straight into adventure mode — stopping at the stunning Whakaipo Bay in Taupo, then on to Rotorua for a day of full-throttle fun at Velocity Park. Think: indoor skydiving, high-speed jet boats, and lots of laughs (and screams). Then it’s off to Ngaruawahia to catch up with my cousin and take the kids for a ride in an old-school Willys Jeep. But the biggest test? Towing the tiny into Auckland and across the infamous Harbour Bridge. From remote beaches to city traffic, we’re definitely out of our comfort zone. We wrap things up by escaping the weather and finding a peaceful, hidden gem near Puhoi.
