La Verità sulle Sigarette Elettroniche | Silvano Gallus - La Scienza sul Divano

Are e-cigarettes (using liquid or heated tobacco) harmful? Science needs time to answer this question, and only now is enough evidence accumulating to paint a picture of the potential short- to medium-term harm and to begin to understand the long-term effects (on which the data are even more uncertain). And then, do they really help you quit smoking, or are they instead a way to start smoking? I spoke with Silvano Gallus, an epidemiologist who heads the lifestyle laboratory at the Mario Negri Institute in Milan and a winner of an IGNobel Prize for research on the protective effects of pizza (only if made and eaten in Italy). Thanks to AIRC for putting me in touch with Silvano Gallus for this episode. I primarily deal with environmental and everyday chemistry. I study and combat chemophobia, the irrational fear of (synthetic) chemicals. With the program "Science on the Couch," I interview scientists and science communicators in a disgustingly informal manner. I hold conferences and meetings in schools (poor students!). Since 2019, I have collaborated on the creation of Superquark+ for RaiPlay, and since 2023, I have been a science communicator for Noos on Rai1. I wrote "C'è chimica in casa" (Mondadori, 2022) and, with Simone Angioni and Stefano Bertacchi, "Quello che sai sulla plastica è sbagliato" (Gribaudo, 2023). What do I use to make the videos?
