BJERKREIM/GJESDAL: We drive the Gloppedalsvegen between Vikeså in Bjerkreim municipality and Byrkjedal in Gjesdal municipality. The road winds through beautiful scenery and through the narrow Gloppedalen valley. This valley is best known for Gloppura (Gloppedalsura), one of Northern Europe's largest rock formations, which for a kilometer fills the entire valley between the vertical rock walls. It is at most 100 meters thick and an impressive sight. The road winds you between boulders in the scree. The drive ends at Byrkjedalstunet in Byrkjedal, a small hotel that consists of a collection of several historic houses and is a sight in itself.
