Trains at Cambridge South on Opening Day! 28.06.2026

Hello, and welcome to this trainspotting video. Here you join me at Britain's Newest Railway Station on it's opening day. The name of the new station was Cambridge South, and this was the latest station to open on the UK Rail Network. I was also joined for the morning by ‪@20Jameshall_babyextra‬ and for some parts of the morning by ‪@The_Eastern_Railway_Enthusiast‬ , it was very nice to see you, and thanks for coming along to join or see me along with a number of other rail enthusiasts. It was all a fantastic morning indeed. Anyways, this station is situated on the West Anglian Mainline but also sees services that go down the East Coast Mainline. This station is situated nearby the biomedical campus and Addenbrooks Hospital which is the purpose of this station for its connectivity and links nearby. This station is horribly GBR branded but to this current day it sees services from Great Northern, Greater Anglia, Thameslink, and CrossCountry. No CrossCountry trains feature in this video, as engineering works were affecting services in the Ely area resulting in CrossCountry not being able to operate. Trains that feature in this video include the Class 700s with some on the usual Thameslink Cambridge to Brighton Duties, and some on Great Northern's Cambridge to London Kings Cross Services, Class 379s on Great Northern services followed by Class 387s on its usual Great Northern services too, Class 720s on the usual Greater Anglia services on the London Liverpool Street to Cambridge North runs, and Class 755s on Greater Anglia's Stansted Airport runs. This was recorded on the first day of the station opening which was on the 28th of June, and this was recorded in the morning between 10:10 and 12:45. In my opinion, it was certainly good to visit a new station and on its official opening day for the first time. It was great to see so many enthusiasts and many familiar youtubers out there. I thought the station looked good for a modern station. Everything I liked about the station, although apart from the bland GBR branding.
