Kiyosato Highlands, located in Hokuto City, Yamanashi Prefecture, lies on the southern slopes of Mt. Yatsugatake at an elevation of 1,200 to 1,400 meters. Although it is close enough for a day trip from Tokyo, its clear air and ever-changing seasonal scenery offer visitors a peaceful and relaxing escape. At the heart of this highland resort is Moegi no Mura, a charming village filled with unique shops, cafés, and restaurants scattered among the trees. Simply walking through the village is a pleasure, and on weekends it attracts many visitors. The curry served at Restaurant ROCK is one of the local specialties and a beloved favorite among visitors. Long lines often form at lunchtime on weekends. The village’s iconic symbol, the “Carousel of Dreams,” was brought from the United States in 1993. Nestled in the forest, it has become a popular location for photography and film shoots. The Hall of Halls, a museum dedicated to music boxes and automated musical instruments, houses around 250 pieces from Europe and the United States, including Switzerland, Germany, and America. One of its highlights is a magnificent large automatic organ built for the 1900 Paris Exposition. In the main hall, guided performances allow visitors to experience the rich sound and ingenious mechanisms of music from the pre-electric age.    / @萌木の村ホールオブホールズ   “Mainspring,” also known as the “Clockwork Shop,” is the workshop of music box sommelier Junichi Natori. As the grandson of Paul Rusch, the pioneer who helped develop Kiyosato, Natori was also involved in establishing the Hall of Halls. Today, he continues restoring antique music boxes and clocks, creating original works, and promoting reuse and preservation.    / @yatsugatake-zenmaiya   The camera used for this video is the PENTAX 17, a half-frame film camera released in 2024. It has attracted worldwide attention as a rare new film camera launched in the digital era. Its lens performance is remarkably impressive. Despite being a half-frame camera, it produces sharp, crisp images with excellent detail. Combined with the unique grain and color tones of film, it creates a distinctive and expressive visual texture. Compact and lightweight, it slips easily into a bag, making it an ideal companion for both everyday moments and travel photography. The film used was FUJIFILM 400. Its ISO 400 versatility handles changing light conditions well, while its vivid yet nostalgic color tones pair beautifully with the rendering of the PENTAX 17.
