Vintage Engine - Petter A1 Stationary Engine & Homemade Generator - How to Start a Petter A1

In this Vintage Machinery / Vintage Engine video we'll take a look at my 1949 Petter A1 air cooled stationary engine along with the "Bitsa" generator and lighting set I built to run with it. I originally bought this incomplete engine to use as spare parts but when I got it home I decided to get the missing parts and have it as a running engine. It had obviously had a hard life, having been used on a Parker concrete mixer and at some point it had been crudely converted to run on gas. I wanted something for the engine to power when I exhibited it at vintage shows and I'd always liked the early Petter-Light sets so I made my own, vintage looking Bitsa generator, largely using old parts that I had lying around.
