“We are very happy that it will live!” says a resident of Pidpolozzi about the chapel of St. Mary Magdalene. The unique wooden structure was the spiritual center of the local Germans/Swabians for over 130 years. After World War II, it was closed, but the community preserved its faith and traditions. When the chapel was threatened with destruction, it was dismantled and transported to the Uzhgorod Open-Air Museum. Here it will be a bright addition to the architectural ensemble of the old Transcarpathian village, representing the ethnographic diversity of Transcarpathia. “We are very happy that it will live on!” says a resident of Pidpolozzi about the Maria Magdalena Chapel.
