Die Huzulen in der Ukraine: Uralte Traditionen in den Karpaten (Dokumentation, 2012)
The Hutsuls live in the Carpathian Mountains, along the Ukrainian-Romanian border. They used to live primarily on isolated farmsteads in the hills, but today they also live in villages and small towns along the rivers. Traditionally, they make their living from forestry and sheep farming. They have preserved many traditions to this day: In spring, during the festival marking the cattle drive to the high pastures, the 80-year-old head shepherd, Mychajlo, gathers the villagers' sheep and then leads them up to the high pastures with the other shepherds. Not only pastures, but also vast forests stretch along the mountains. A forester tells of life in the forest, where, in addition to animals, magical beings are said to reside. The Carpathian inhabitants use the wood from the forests to build their houses, but also for their traditional instruments: The instrument maker Vasyl crafts horns and trembitas, the long Hutsul alphorns. . ... The instruments were once used for communication between mountain pastures; this function is now fulfilled by mobile phones, but the trembitas have remained an integral part of all festivals: They signal the start of the cattle drive to the alpine pastures, and during the Christmas season, they accompany groups of carolers who, dressed in traditional costumes, go from house to house to spread the Christmas message. The members of the punk-folk band Koralli also play the trembita – though their version sounds a bit different. ... ------- Chapters ▷ 00:00 - Intro ▷ 01:19 - The Hutsuls in Ukraine ▷ 42:51 - End Credits #ukraine #carpathians #hutsuls #romania #folkmusic #easterneurope #trembita ------- Subscribe to wocomoDEUTSCH: https://bit.ly/2VgSBml Follow us on Facebook: / wocomo ------- Original title: The Hutsuls in Ukraine | Europe's Forgotten Peoples A film by Elke Sasse 2012 © Licensed by Berlin Producers ------- High-quality documentaries on science, society, history, and wildlife: wocomoDEUTSCH provides access to reliable and high-quality information sources in German.
