If we talk about the most serious tumors, we are definitely talking about melanoma. That's what it's called, it has a rapid evolution and appears as a result of the uncontrolled growth of cells that pigment the skin and are called melanocytes. But until we get there and we certainly don't want that, the easiest thing is to pay attention to moles. There is a very clear rule for following them, and the abbreviation used internationally is made up of the letters A B C D E. Let's see what each one means. 2:52 Why does skin cancer occur Thus, melanoma develops on atypical moles, that is, those that do not follow the rules described above. Okay, but why does skin cancer occur? You're probably wondering. The culprits are: Genetic factors Exposure to ultraviolet radiation Artificial tanning, i.e. exposure to tanning beds Sunburns, even those from childhood, can lead to cancer over time. You may have heard that the skin has a memory. So, if you have children, be very careful how much you leave them in the sun. 3:23 Different moles So, if a mole is different from all the others, what should you do? You should go to the doctor. The dermatologist, the specialist who deals with everything related to skin health, will analyze all the moles on the body using a dermatoscope, a device that resembles a product scanner in stores. 5:30 How to prevent skin cancer Now that I've explained this to you and I hope you've calmed down a bit, I want you to know one more thing: skin cancer can be prevented. As much as we like to stay in the sun, sometimes from morning to night, it's not good at all. I would say that it seems like tanning is not that fashionable anymore. Moreover, as a big consumer of SPF that I am, I dare to tell you that healthy skin is worth wearing. Sunscreen is the only one that protects you from UVA and UVB ultraviolet rays, and therefore from cancer, and it should be used regardless of the season. The important thing is to choose one with the highest possible protection factor - SPF 50. I'm back to sunscreen. To make sure that the product also has protection against UVA, it must have UVA written in a circle, exactly like this - I'm pointing to a product - or the term "broad spectrum". 7:35 Keep an eye on your skin If you've listened to me this far, I want to ask you something else. Keep an eye on your skin. Listen to all the advice given by your doctor, use a cream with a protective factor and go to a dermatologist immediately if you have suspicious spots on your skin or if you have moles that change size, color or start to bleed. Discovered in time, melanoma has a high chance of being cured, as the specialist said earlier. And if you don't have any problems, I would still ask you to go once a year for a preventive dermatological check-up. You can even do this with a referral from your family doctor. You can surely find a dermatologist who has a contract with the house. --- Welcome to the #Pacientul2.0 channel!
