“Quisiera crear un jardín, y verlo crecer” de Vicente Todolí (Espasa) IX Ciclo El Jardín Escrito
“I Would Like to Create a Garden, and Watch It Grow,” a personal reflection by Vicente Todolí on art and the land. The book, published by Espasa, will be presented on Monday, May 19, as part of the “The Written Garden” series organized by the Library of the Royal Botanical Garden-CSIC. It is considered an “exquisite creative memoir by one of our country’s most internationally renowned figures in the art world, a true contemporary icon.” Vicente Todolí, a leading figure in contemporary art and a prestigious curator who has gone from artistic direction of some of the world’s greatest museums, such as the Tate Modern Gallery, to cultivating more than 500 varieties of citrus fruits in Palmera, his hometown in Valencia, will visit the Royal Botanical Garden-CSIC to present his book, “I Would Like to Create a Garden (and Watch It Grow),” as part of the “The Written Garden” series organized by the RJB Library. This is a deeply personal reflection on the circumstances and issues that have captured his attention and shaped both his life and career: from Valencia to New York, Porto, London, and Milan, discovering artists and organizing exhibitions, before returning to the Mediterranean countryside to reconnect with his roots, literally, by discovering the "art" of cultivating olive and citrus trees. It features quick and insightful analyses of art, museums, and artists themselves, along with intriguing, biographical narratives brimming with life. Participants: Vicente Todolí, author and graduate in Art History from the University of Valencia Cristina Iglesias, artist Eduardo Barba, gardener, landscape designer, and popularizer María Paz Martín, Director of the Royal Botanical Garden, CSIC Presented by: Félix Alonso, Head Librarian of the Royal Botanical Garden, CSIC Information of interest Activity: 9th series ‘The Written Garden’ Book presentation: I Would Like to Create a Garden (and Watch It Grow) by Vicente Todolí.
