Unidas is under new management after selling assets to Localiza. Canadian asset manager Brookfield, which manages Ouro Verde, acquired the brand and a series of stores and vehicles that Localiza had put up for sale by order of the Brazilian Civil Service Agency (CADE). In an interview with VEJA S/A, the president of the "new Unidas," Cláudio Zattar, stated that the company's main mission is to regain market share from the previous operation. The company opened 32 stores in 2023. The pace of openings is expected to be more moderate in 2024, and electrifying the rental fleet is not a priority at the moment. Zattar says there is still significant consumer resistance to renting electric vehicles due to high prices and the segment's still-deficient infrastructure in Brazil.
