I Biked Canada's Scariest Bridge (Blackshale MTB Ride)

Point-to-point journey on part of the High Rockies Trail in Kananaskis, Alberta. The terrain from the Buller Pass to Peninsula is a mix of flowing singletrack, punchy climbs, and scenic forest trails. While some parts of the ride are a fairly standard cross-country grind, it all leads to the main event: riding across the massive Blackshale Creek Suspension Bridge! Crossing a narrow, swinging wooden bridge high above the canyon floor is definitely a test of nerves if you are afraid of heights. Route Information: This ride spans roughly 34km with around 750m of elevation gain, though it yields a net descent when ridden in this direction. The route starts at the Buller Mountain Day Use Area and passes landmarks like Rummel Creek, the Chester Lake trail junction, Sawmill, Kent, and the Blackshale Creek Suspension Bridge before finishing at the Peninsula Day Use Area by Lower Kananaskis Lake.
