Gen 18:1 And the LORD appeared to Abraham in the plains of Mamre, as he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day. Gen 18:2 And he lifted up his eyes, and looked, and, behold, three men stood by him. And when he saw them, he ran from the tent door to meet them, and bowed himself to the ground. Gen 18:3 And said, Lord, if now I have found grace in thy sight, pass not, I pray thee, from thy servant. Gen 18:4 And I, I pray thee, a little water, I pray thee, wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree. Gen 18:5 And I will fetch a morsel of bread; refresh yourselves, and afterward ye may go your way: for therefore are ye come to thy servant. And they said, Do as thou hast said. Gen 18:6 And Abraham went quickly into the tent unto Sarah, and said, Quick, get three measures of fine meal, knead it, and make cakes. Gen 18:7 And Abraham ran unto the herd, and fetched a calf tender and good, and gave it unto a servant: and he hasted, and dressed it. Gen 18:8 And he took butter and milk, and the calf which he had dressed, and set it before them; and he stood by them under the tree, while they did eat. Gen 18:9 And they said unto him, Where is Sarah thy wife? And he said, Behold, she is in the tent. Gen 18:10 And he said, I will surely return unto thee at this time. I will come. Then Sarah your wife will have a son.” Sarah was listening at the tent door behind him. Gen 18:11 Now Abraham and Sarah were old, well stricken in age. Sarah had stopped having children. Gen 18:12 Sarah laughed to herself, saying, “Now that I have grown old, will I have pleasure? My master is old too.” Gen 18:13 Then the LORD said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh, saying, ‘Shall I indeed bear a child, who am old?’ Gen 18:14 Is anything too hard for the LORD? I will surely return to you at this time, at the set time.” Then Sarah will have a son. Gen 18:15 Sarah was afraid and said, “I did not laugh.” But he said, “You did laugh.” Gen 18:16 Then the men got up from there and looked toward Sodom. Abraham went with them to see them off. Gen 18:17 Then the LORD said, “Shall I hide from Abraham what I am about to do? Gen 18:18 Abraham will surely become a mighty and great nation. And in him shall all the nations of the earth be blessed. Gen 18:19 For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him to keep the way of the LORD, to do righteousness and justice, that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken unto him of him. Gen 18:20 And the LORD said unto Abraham, Because the cry of the LORD is great, and because their sin is very grievous, Gen 18:21 I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and if not, I will know. Gen 18:22 And the men turned from thence, and looked toward Sodom. Abraham was still standing before the LORD. Gen 18:23 Then Abraham approached and said, “Will you really sweep away the righteous with the wicked? Gen 18:24 What if there are fifty righteous people in the city? Will you not destroy the place for the fifty righteous people who are in it? Gen 18:25 Far be it from you to do this, to slay the righteous with the wicked. Far be it from you to judge the righteous with the wicked. When he said, "Shall the Judge of all the earth do right?" Gen 18:26 And the LORD said, "If I find within Sodom fifty righteous within the city, I will spare the whole place for their sake." Gen 18:27 And Abraham said, "Behold, I have taken upon me to speak unto the LORD, which am but dust and ashes." Gen 18:28 And he said, "Suppose there are five less than five of the fifty righteous." Will you destroy all the place for lack of five? And he said, I will not do it, if I find there forty and five. And he spake unto him yet again, and said, Peradventure there shall be forty found there. And he said, I will not do it for the forty's sake And he said, Peradventure there shall be twenty found there: and he said, I will not destroy it for the twenty's sake. Gen 18:32 And he said, Lest I be angry, and I will speak yet again: and suppose there shall be ten found there: and he said, I will not destroy it for the ten's sake. Gen 18:33 And the LORD left off speaking with Abraham, and he went his way. And Abraham returned unto his house.
